Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Tilly was either abandoned or found her way to a church in Dahlonega during bitter cold weather in December. She was in misery from a severe long standing ear infection and also had multiple mammary masses that were found to be benign tumors when removed at the time of her spaying. She had been on medical hold for 2 months while undergoing ear treatments in addition to recovery from her surgery. Tilly is affectionate with everyone she meets and if permitted she would happily park her 54 pound butt in a welcoming lap. Tilly is a 4 year old German Shorthair Pointer. She is child, cat and dog friendly. She will jump on people which can be ... (Read More)remedied with gentle training. She has a loving heart and is very ready to leave us and take up residence on a comfy couch with someone who will keep her safe...and adore her. Application can be submitted online at our website: https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application/ or at the shelter. Adoption policies/application procedures are detailed under All Adoptable Animals. Adoption of all dogs/cats requires an approval process to ensure that they are going into a home suitable for their needs and committed to their care and safety. Each is placed with same due diligence that they would be given if they were our own furry family members. Adopters who are not within the local area of the shelter MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. Meeting approved adopters is one of the final steps in the adoption process. We do not permit transport or shipping of our residents without the adopter. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter which provides quality care, spay/neuter-all vaccines, deworming, vet exam, standard disease testing and for dogs-monthly heart worm prevention treatment. Resident animals are owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The shelter is not permitted by GA law to accept strays. The facility is usually operating at capacity with a list of animals approved for intake waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4. Rescue Me ID: 17-12-22-00220Simon (male)

German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations, Fearful/Anxious

Simon is a lovable lap dog, even for his size, he very much still thinks he'a a puppy. Very caring and loving companion, we only have to give him up because he constantly is trying to pick fights with big dogs around our apartment complex. He does not do well with dogs and is very dominant when other dogs are present. He requires a strict diet with Fromm or Call of the Wild dog food, as anything else tends to activate seizure spasms. During heavy thunderstorms he gets anxious and nervous but does much better if he can find a tight spot away from the noise, such as under a bed or a small closet. His coat leaves behind fine white hair and he ... (Read More)requires to be sedated in order to get his nails cut,. He loves big open fields and splashing through the lake. We've had Simon for almost 8 years and he was adopted after recently turning 2 years old from a shelter. He bonds rather quickly with new people. An ideal environment for Simon would include a large fenced-in back yard, or private lake access where he could freely roam and run. He needs to be able to stay indoors the majority of the day as he gets extremely anxious if caught out in the rain, he will dog massive holes out of excessive anxiety if left in the rain. His dog food costs about $50-$75 a bag and Will last him about 2-3 months, this is the best use as any other cheaper brand food tends to give him bad seizures, as long as he has quality Fromm or Call of the Wild food, no seizures strike and he doesn't require any medication. The shelter stated that he was found along with his siblings abandoned during a heavy storm which may be why he is so traumatized by the weather. We wouldn't be putting him up for adoption if we were in our old home, but a change in our financial situation is he reason we had to come to an apartment the constant issues with other dogs is the primary reason for us having to find a new home for him.
