Rescue Me ID: 14-06-27-00269Rosie (female)

German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Rosie is almost 7 years old. She originally lived in western Nebraska and had the ability to run freely but had access to shelter in house due to inclement weather (too hot/too cold). About 3 years ago her family moved to Lincoln, Nebraska and to a subdivision~and Rosie's area to run was drastically decreased. Her owners became very busy with 'life' and was not able to provide her the time/attention she needed and wanted. So about 1 year ago, that is when we took her into our home in Shawnee, Kansas. We have a 6 year old little girl and another male dog. We had more yard for her to run and had cared for her when previous owners were ... (Read More)gone, etc. So we knew Rosie, her temperament and she already held a special place in our heart. Since the duration of her living with us, we have enjoyed her tremendously. However we are seeing her high energy which translates to digging of holes around our fence and noticeable desire to run freely to chase birds, rabbits. With some of the anxiety and high energy she possesses, we have had some accidents in our house relating to urination. We have adjusted our habits to be more receptive to when Rosie needs to go outside, but accidents still occur. In an effort to be fair to Rosie~we feel it is time to find her a home where she can run, become someone's constant buddy to check cattle, farm animals, etc. She will need ability to come in from weather elements as she has now become adapted to that over the course of last few years, but it would be better if it is not 'free rein' in the house for the occasional anxiety accidents she has had.
