German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My name is Lyra. I was born in 2011, weigh 44 pounds and I'm a low energy girl. I don't mind other dogs as long as they are calm and low energy too. My breed mix is a bit of a mystery! I do a few super cute things that you have to see and then you might fall in love with me. When my human friends play with me, I always sit down and tap my front paw on the floor like I'm playing the piano. I have never been on a leash in my life, but I like it and walk very nicely on it. I love treats and I'll take those very gently out of your hands. Do you want to try that out really quickly? I also know my sit and crate commands. I'm smart, they tell me! ... (Read More)I will let you rub my belly for as long as you would like. I'm potty-trained, crate-trained and I really enjoy my kennel space. It's all mine and I feel safe there. Here is what Lyra's current foster mom has to say about her: 'This is Lyra's foster mom. Lyra is the most well behaved dog I have ever had. By day 3 she has already earned the right to roam the house free when no one is home. She is totally house-trained and crate-trained. But I never have to use the crate as she is so well- behaved. She does not get on furniture, does not counter surf, does not touch anything that is not hers. She takes her treats gently, eats gently, and drinks gently - no need to wipe her mouth (or the floor) after she drinks. She will do very well either as a single dog, or with another dog that is gentle like her. Every day I see her coming out of her shell more. Her energy requirement is medium to low. She loves her walks but she sleeps most of the time when she is inside the house. And yes the markings on her legs and chin are striking! They are like brush strokes by an artist. And did I mention her eyes? Gosh she can touch your soul with her eyes.' Lyra loves children and all people. She doesn't seem to mind cats either. I'll take a little extra time to get to know and trust my new family, but please know that I want one so badly. I don't need a big house or a big yard, just a little space, a leash for walks, a kennel and LOTS of love. To adopt Lyra, please submit an application online at www.corridorrescue.org under the More Information tab. Lyra's adoption fee is $150 if in Houston; $375 if outside of Texas (includes health certificate, travel crate, and airline transportation).
