German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Doc is a sweet, lovable ball of energy who is eager to please. He loves to be outside with his people running and playing and really enjoys his afternoon naps in the sun. We've loved him since we got him in January 2008. Over the past 9 months we've received a number of anonymous threatening notes in our mailbox complaining about him barking at squirrels during the day. These notes have becoming increasingly hostile and we're concerned for his safety, so have made the difficult decision to give him up to a good home. **The barking can be a nuisance as it's hard to redirect Doc's attention once he's focused ... (Read More)on something. Prior to living in our current home, there were no squirrels and Doc never made a peep - so we believe this wouldn't be an issue in another environment. **He is epileptic; this is easily controlled by medication which we are willing to provide for as long as necessary. He has never shown aggression to people and is not a dominant dog. A perfect home for him would be on some land where he can run to his heart's content. He loves people and loves to be loved on so a family with time to devote to him would be ideal. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-03-10-00178Gorgeous 'Lucy' (female)

German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lucy is a gorgeous 4 year old, Hound and Pointer Mix. She is a healthy, spayed, female dog with short hair that is white with orange spots. She is up to date on her vaccinations. If you have room in your heart and home, please fill out our application form here: . There is a $75 adoption/rehoming fee. Call Mark toll free at 888-9-PETS4U if you have any questions. Does this pet get along with cats? Unknown Does this pet get along with dogs? No Please Describe Your Pet's Personality Sweet Lucy LOVES her family. She truly listens for the bus each day and jumps up when she hears it. She wants ... (Read More)to play and lick them at all times. She needs to run (and needs space) and probably is the fastest runner I have ever seen. Each night she comes and sits in my lap (mom) by placing her front paws across my lap and hind legs on the floor. She loves to be petted and praised, sometimes she even lays her head on my chest. The boys say, 'she needs her mama hug' and it is true! Most importantly, she loves to protect and is extremely devoted. She is a phenomenal watch dog and is constantly checking on her boys, whether it is following them when they are outside, circling the pool when they are swimming or doing bed checks watch....she goes to each room throughout the night and just peeks in to be sure all is well. She is also EXTREMELY protective when it comes to strangers. She barks quite loud when a stranger is near and will snap at strangers. She is a rescue dog and seems to be wary of men she does not know. No one is allowed on her turf near her boys. Protecting is her job and she does dig things when she is nervous. I feel incredibly safe with Lucy protecting us. What is your home environment like? House with a fenced backyard and a pool. Kids in and out all day long!! Lots of activity around. Lucy is inside if no one is home and at night. She loves a blanket the playroom couch. the moment the boys are home or outside so is she!! She runs circles around them. She will jump in the pool to protect the swimmer....she feels like she has to save them even when all is fine. If the kids swim for 4 hours, she circles the pool for 4 hours. Please Tell Us A Little About Your Family: Family of 5.....three VERY ACTIVE boys age 12, 8 and 6 What are your pet's favorite toys, foods, activities? Loves anything she can play tug of war with. Loves to explore and RUN. She eats IAMS dry dog food and does love left-overs If possible, please tell us a funny, cute or heartwarming story about your pet. She warms my heart everyday. She is so devoted. One time our boys ran off without her into the green belt to a friends. She begged me to let her out, I finally gave in 10 minutes later. She ran straight to the greenbelt and found them and stayed with them. She loves when the boys lay on the floor...she immediately stands over them and licks and licks and LICKS them!! For What Reason(s) are you needing to rehome your pet? Lucy needs space to run, a farm or ranch would be perfect for her where she can feel useful. She is so protective of our family that she is aggressive with all strangers and other dogs (although some dogs she is fine with, we just never know) and being a neighborhood with so many people coming in and out of the house we are not comfortable that we always have a chance to put her away. As I said, she does try to bite strangers, but never people she knows. You must be sure she is comfortable with people before you leave them alone with her. (Less)
