German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Roxy was adopted as a small puppy by a family that didn't have time for her. She was tied up in the back yard and left to entertain herself. Poor nutrition led to a terrible case of demodex mange. Poor baby Roxy lost all of her hair. She came to AARF Houston just in time. She was given a nutrious diet, lots of love and proper medication for her condition. Roxy is now a young lady with a full coat of beautiful Brown and white hair. Roxy loves all of her foster brothers and sisters and plays well with even our 6 week old foster. She loves to run, loves her walks and especially her car rides. She tolerates being in a crate when ... (Read More)necessary, but would prefer being by your side doing what ever important task you are doing. Roxy can be an only dog, although she would prefer having a friend to keep her company while you are at work. Roxy has a genetic problem with her back legs. She has just undergone Bi-lateral FHO surgery, which means her hip bones never fit in the Pelvis joint. She is recovering from sugery and getting stronger every day. As soon as she is strong and her muscles strong enough to hold her, Roxy will undergo another surgery to fix her knees. She is a great dog, and is doing well with Physical Therapy. There is no reason to doubt that once she has the next surgery she won't be as good as any other dog. She deserves a great home - is it with you? (Less)

German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I am Shelby and I would like to tell my own story. Basically I was left tied to a bar stool, yes, in an actual bar! I was taken in by a nice lady, got a home, got hit by a car, lost the home, and then the nice lady got me into AAR. Yay me! I had to get my leg amputated because of the accident but no worries, I am good as new! I got to stay with a foster family that had two other dogs that I just loved! I was a good girl from the start they said. I did have a few accidents in the house but it was just a settling in period. I learned quickly that if I went potty outside then I would get a treat when I came inside. A win win if you ask me! I ... (Read More)walk great on a leash. I adore car rides. I like bones that have stuff in them that I have to work to get out. Sometimes I have little tremors on my head which could be due to distemper as a puppy. You can't really see them until I get tired, but they don't bother me. They do make people want to kiss and hug me because they think it is sad. I just say, lets move on! That is the past and I am one super happy girl now looking for her forever home. (Less)

CLICK ON HER PICTURE TO SEE ALL HER PICTURES & HER VIDEO AMIRA 14 months Terrier/ Heeler/Cattle Dog who LOVES kids and dogs. I'm a happy and affectionate puppy. I'm also smart. I learned to go in my crate the first day in my foster home. My foster sisters showed me where to go potty, and I picked that up instantly. I let my foster mom know if I need to go outside. Day 2, I learned down in 5 minutes. I walk nicely on a leash and am learning heel; Amira; means princess, but I'm not the least bit haughty. In fact, I'm very submissive. I'm likely to introduce myself to you by bumping my rear end into your leg and smiling at you over my tail, ... (Read More)even if it means wacking myself in the face repeatedly. Foster mom says that, with the right conduit, my tail could power a small community. I LOVE everybody of all ages, and all sizes of dogs. I'd probably chase a cat but only 'cause I love to play and give kisses. Do you see the picture of me at the nursing home? Some of the residents couldn't speak, but I let them pet me and they all smiled. If you have any questions, contact my foster mom at: Lyndadfw@gmail.com Her adoption includes age appropriate vaccinations, worming, rabies vaccination, neuter, and microchip including registration. .
